Grab your best chili recipe and enter into the Citizens Against Domestic Violence 4th annual Chili for Charity Cook-Off. Held March 3 at Tan-Tar-A Resort, the event will feature many different types of chili. Enter the contest or just stop by and eat. Prizes will be awarded for Grand Prize, 2nd and 3rd. Entry available at CADV.
For a $5 admission, spectators will be able to sample Chili and includes, cake walks, face painting entertainment and games for the kids.
Proceeds benefit CADV, a not-for-profit shelter that assists victims of domestic and sexual assault. They offer a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy, free counseling and other assistance for victims. In 2010 they served more than 490 women, men and children.
With the help of the community, CADV is raising money to fund the construction of a new 40-bed shelter scheduled for completing in July of 2012.
