Amish Country Store: Where old and new come to meet

Expect some different things at the Amish Country Corner located on the Bagnell Dam Strip.
New items, a full-service flower shop, and organizing classes are in the works at the store that has been a stop for tourists and visitors to the historic strip for the last five years.
Store manager Janet Ward says the changes are all a part of the new management that has taken place recently. They wanted to implement several things to give shoppers more of a selection and something for locals to do during the winter. They plan on offering cooking and floral design classes this winter.

Although changes have been made, the store still sells the highest quality of furniture craftsmanship with their indoor and outdoor Amish furniture. It is what most people come to look at, Ward says.
About half of the store carries Amish furniture while the other part holds religions items and unique home decor.
The hottest thing on the market right now is outdoor poly furniture. It is fade, stain and mildew resistant. With 12 color selections for swings, tables, lounge chairs, rocking chairs, swivel chairs and other furniture, the sturdy pieces will last a lifetime.
In addition to the Amish primitive and cedar furniture, Ward says the western look is coming back and more people are requesting items with that theme.
The store also carries Amish goods such as jellies, jams, popcorn and sauces, Christmas ornaments, religious gifts and decorations, garden items, and many other gifts.
A partnership with a new florist will offer shoppers with the option to take home an arrangement or those needing custom floral design. At The Lake Flowers owner Ray Blake is AIFD certified. He relocated the store from The Landing and is offering the same services at the new location.
Ward says they have also welcomed Steve Bunch to their staff. He has been selling furniture and stageing homes in the Porto Cima and surrounding area for several years.
“He also has given our store a new look and style,” Ward said. “(He) has many years experience in high-quality furniture sales and has taken great pride in giving his customers a new personal, stylish look.”
