The moment you walk into the store, you will be immediately hooked. The color, decor and interesting merchandise could have you wandering for hours.
If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind gift or something to spice up your home, you'll find it — before you even walk in the door.
The lighted, life-sized palm trees and other lawn ornaments located in the front of the store will surly catch your eye.
Owner Dave Kottmann said he opened the store in May 2007 for the heck of it. Over time, thousands of square feet of merchandise were added to it.
“I didn't decide on a unique store, the 50 or so local and regional artists/crafters are the ones that make it unique,” he says.
Chainsaw wood carvings, signs, artwork and many other pieces are handmade. Wine bottle holders, fun dining sets, pirate flags, clothing, furniture, and lots of novelty items are found throughout.
Several places around the building were designed specifically for placement of displays, adding to the ambiance. Trico Dock built a dock around a 16 foot, 1959 Cutter where wood carvings of mermaids, captains and other nautical themed merchandise rests. Surdyke donated a pontoon that has been cut in half for another section of the store.
It's a destination for a number of tourists that stop in to take a look around. Kottmann often enjoys a visit with those that come in to browse.
“I like to talk to all the Iowa folks. Everybody is from Iowa. They have nothing to do up there,” he jokes.
