The Village Cafe offers relaxing spot in Versailles

Facebook

The Village Café is a small, intimately owned restaurant located in downtown Versailles. It is the perfect spot to relax and get away for awhile, but if you are in a hurry take-out meals are available.
The restaurant opened in June 2010 offering a selection of salads, sandwiches, paninis, quiche, wraps, and soups for when it's cold outside. They bake made-from-scratch cookies and scones fresh daily.
The menu changes every week, so there is frequently something different to order.
"What makes The Village Café unique is that it has a rotating menu," owner and chef Krista Cochran said. "Every week some menu items are taken off and replaced with new items. This helps keep the menu small but diverse, and it is a great way to take advantage of all the wonderful, locally-grown produce."
Cochran says she looks forward to customer feedback. "We encourage our guests to suggest new menu ideas and even bring in recipes to be tried and possibly added to our menu selection."

The Village Café is located in the back of The Village Shoppe. The building was built in 1897 as a jewelry store. Cochran grew up near Versailles and then moved away to Orlando, Florida to go to the cooking school, Le Cordon Bleu. After graduating with the highest possible honors and working in several well-known restaurants and hotels, she returned to her hometown and opened the café.
From the menu, the paninis are always popular, as is the café’s unique Summer Coleslaw. One of their most popular and requested menu items is the Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini. Fresh-baked scones are offered with flavors that vary every day including lemon dark chocolate, blueberry white chocolate, strawberry poppy-seed, pineapple coconut and maple walnut.
