Home accents and more

Charis Patires

It's been a family affair at Hardwood Originals for more than 25 years. Featuring home furnishings and décor, the store recently moved from the Camdenton Square to a larger warehouse in order to offer more items and a larger selection.
The 9,000-square-foot warehouse showroom is located in Camdenton, behind Jack's Sporting Goods & First National Bank off of Highway 54.
"There is just so much more space to utilize and showcase what we have to offer, and it's much easier for folks to really see why we are truly a unique shopping experience," owner Joyce Martin says.
The store began in the late 70s when waterbeds were popular. Twelve years ago, Joyce and husband, Darwin, purchased the store from Joyce’s parents. From here, they expanded, offering quality home furnishings and specialty sleep items. Over time, they began custom design jobs and staging for local condominium models. The warehouse is an eclectic showcase of futons, day beds, bunk beds, waterbeds, accents, accessories and more. It is still the place to go for all your waterbed and supply needs. There are also handcrafted items by local artists, as well as gifts and jewelry.
Joyce says sofa-height sleeper futons are popular now, available in all different styles and designs. A sofa by day, bed by night, and Sunbrella fabrics allow for use in all-seasonal rooms and can be easily changeable to fit any mood or décor.
Joys Place of Great Finds, is a new addition which offers quality consignments including furniture, clothing and gifts including a women, baby and children's boutique.  Joyce shared that she is very excited to welcome new clientele with this new division.
"I feel very blessed to have been serving the entire Lake area throughout all these years, seeing how our little waterbed store has grown and evolved. The repeat customers (friends) and generations that still remain loyal to us and have continued to come back is an encouragement like no other.  It’s because of these and the help of God why we’re still here. It’s community." Joyce says.
