Fishing store offers everything
Finally what the Lake has been waiting for. A place where the angler can pick up supplies and get some insight on where to fish on Lake of the Ozarks. This 2,800 square-foot facility, Fitz Fishing Tackle & Supplies, is a bait and tackle store (located at 3621 Osage Beach Parkway, at the corner of Mace Rd. and Hwy. 54 ). Here the outdoorsmen will be able to pick up everything needed for a day out on the water in addition to some one-on-one attention from an expert fisherman.
Owners Barb and Wayne Fitzpatrick, long time residents of the Ozarks, are scheduled to open Fitz Fishing Tackle & Supplies in February. Wayne has been passionate about fishing since he was a small boy and enjoys helping anglers catch fish. He started out fishing with his dad in ponds and along the banks, and then moved to bigger bodies of water including the Osage River, then onto bigger Lakes with his tournament bass fishing boat. He has been fishing at Lake of the Ozarks for more than 40 years, as well as many rivers and lakes across the Midwest. He has tournament fished for about 25 years and has built custom rods and lures for about 10 years.
Fitz Fishing Tackle & Supplies offers a variety of live bait from big to small minnows, goldfish, night crawlers and catfish bait. They will carry a large variety of fish catching lures, such as Rapala, Gulp, Slab Buster, Mega bass, just to name a few also on hand will be tackle such as fluorocarbon and monofilament line, Gomakatsu Hooks, Abu Garcia, Penn, Quantum, Shakespeare, Shimano, Lew's, Diawa reels, Tru Tungsten weights, St. Croix Rods, G Loomis Rods and a number of other products. They offer everything a river fisherman might need from trotline fishing to snagging for spoonbill. They also offer custom rods and lures, rod repair, reel repair and line spooling.
Also available, package liquor, beer, ice, snacks and other items you might need while enjoying the lake and rivers can be picked up.
They provide information such as weather conditions, what the fish will bite on and areas of the Lake to fish for all types of species of fish.
They plan to hold several workshops to teach kids how to tie knots, cast and the fundamentals of fishing, Barb says. "Fishing is a great hobby for children, whether they are fishing off a dock, from the creek bank or from a boat. The Lake community has great family values and we'd like to do our part to get families to spend time together outdoors."
