Popped fresh daily

David and Amy Bird make some of the best popcorn in the business. Shipping all over the U.S. and several countries, people have said they stack up to Garretts Popcorn – a famous popcorn store in Chicago.
“We thrive on making the best,” David said.
The secret is they use  real brown sugar, butter, cheese, nuts and the highest grade popcorn – popped fresh daily.
The couple opened the store more than four years ago. They started with the basic flavors and over the years expanded to offer different kinds. Now there are more than 18 flavors to choose from.

Helping them along the way is their friend Tom Altman who has 40 years experience in the business having worked for Topsy's in Kansas City. He offers expertise to the growing entrepreneurs.
Amy likes to play with specialty flavors, most recently introducing a garlic parmesan.
“If you are going to have popcorn, you've got to have something on it,” she says.
The most popular flavor is caramel, followed by cheddar and Osage Mix (a mix of the two). A section of the store serves free samples so you can try before you buy.
Popcorn can be taken home in small, medium, large and family sizes. There are also tins available in 1, 2, 3.5, and 6.5 gallon.

Sports tins include teams such as the Chiefs, Rams, KU and the Sooners. For Cardinals fans, World Series tins are available.
For the Christmas season tins with various scenes and Candy Cane (peppermint flavor) will be offered.
While you are in the store, make sure to check out the U.S. map and world map on the wall where patrons mark where they live.

The business supports the Lake area. For not-for-profit organizations, ask about fundraising opportunities.
