Q&A: Justin Bowling
Justin Bowling lives in Springfield, Mo., where he works at a music store. He frequently plays at Old Kinderhook’s Trophy Room and around the Lake area.
QHow did you get into the entertainment business?
AMy mother was a singer and my father was a drummer. They both worked in Branson in the late ’80s. I was pretty much set to be in music at a young age.
QWhat is your musical genre?
AIt changes with the environment that I play in. I really like Kinderhook because I get to do more of what I like, which is folk and indie music. I still do a lot of popular songs but also some obscure ones.
QWhat do you do when you’re not performing?
AHonestly, I record and play a lot. I am constantly writing. I have been working on an original project for a while now. I also play with a band called Shinebriter in Springfield and we are in the process of recording at the moment also.
QDo you have any other hobbies?
AYes, I also draw and paint. I used to paint more, but I am finishing up a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, with an emphasis in figure drawing.
