Shopping profile: Shabby Chic Boutique
Charis Patires
Brenda Cribb has always had an eye for fashion. She started playing dress up as a child and has never stopped. After high school she went to college to study fashion merchandising and starting working as a sales associate at a boutique in the suburbs of Chicago. The company had two stores where she worked for 15 years as a manager and a buyer.
When she decided to retire to raise her son, the family moved to the Lake in 1999. When her son graduated, and with more time on her hands, she started thinking about getting back into the business and expanding into home decor and vintage.
In mid-April, Shabby Chic Boutique opened at The Landing on Main Street in Osage Beach.
It is a quaint boutique, decorated and staged with vintage finds and handmade items to give the shop a unique atmosphere, while being filled with today's latest fashions. The store sells apparel, home decor, jewelry, vintage finds, candles and luxury body care products. There are handmade items using vintage materials, and merchandise bought from small cottage industries — crafted by hand and truly unique.
The antique furniture is painted in the Shabby Chic style of home decor that originated in France. Luxury lines of candles, body products and fragrance, vintage hats, purses, and beautiful floral designs.
"Our goal is to be friendly and helpful, and to offer everyone who walks through our door a truly unique shopping experience," she says.
