The Grocery Store Blues

Live from Montreal...Missouri that is, not Canada. Just back from a road trip to a blues festival in Helena, Ark., Doug Hasch and Jim Lehr are singing the "Grocery Store Blues" promoting their newest collection of original blues tunes as the Juke Brothers.
For two years, Hasch and Lehr have been hanging out, practicing and occasionally taking to the road with their own Lake of the Ozarks blues sound. The two are well known around the Lake area for their music and can often be found playing at one of the Lake of the Ozarks Blues Society jam sessions. They sometimes show up on the local entertainment calendars at venues for gigs, but they also play private parties and gatherings — events where they can showcase their laid back style and original work to smaller, more intimate audiences.
The duo has been playing together since Lehr showed up at Hasch's music store in Camdenton, looking to learn how to play the harmonica. After a few lessons, Hasch said Lehr was showing signs of real talent. "Blowing the harp" as it is called among those who play the blues, seemed to come naturally to Lehr.
It was during those lessons in the back of Hasch's music store, that the two discovered their shared love for blues and an easy camaraderie that not only lead to a great friendship but an on-stage presence bringing out the strengths of the two musicians in a mix that works. Hence, the Juke Brothers was born with Hasch on electric and acoustic guitar, vocals and writing songs and Lehr bringing the harp alive.
Eventually they would like to retire and spend part of the time on the road, playing the music they love but for now, they are having a great time hanging out, jamming and recording. In the meantime, you can find them at the music store getting in a little bit of practice and taking a break from their "real jobs."
Their most recent recording is set against the back drop of an old grocery store in Montreal with their original cut of "Grocery Store Blues," a song inspired by a trip to the grocery store. The recording is strictly a blues format.
Hasch has been a fixture in the Lake music circuit for years. He's been with the Little Kings, and Johnny G and the Allstars before partnering with Lehr.
