A rebranding of golf at the Lake has added excitement and recognition for courses in the area. The Lake of the Ozarks Golf Council, an organization of 13 public golf courses and 11 partnering lodging entities, spearheads golf marketing.
Many areas of the country are using the phrase Golf Trail to promote a golfing experience in their area. One of the best known is the Robert Trent Jones Trail that winds more than 100 miles through Alabama. What makes the Lake Trail unique is the courses are all within a 30-minute drive of each other, so multiple courses can be played in one day. Well-known course designers Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf, Ken Kavanaugh and VonHagge/Devlin are associated with some of these courses, making the selection one of the best in the Midwest. The natural terrain of the Ozark hills, bluffs and Lake shoreline make beautiful backdrops for these courses. Course layouts range from open rolling hills to dramatic fairways carved out of the Ozark foothills and oak forest, offering a unique experience for novice or expert.
